While not the bravest of Gryffindors, the Gryffindor Pisces still exhibits a quiet courage. They aren't afraid to face painful truths, if there really is no way of escaping them. These Gryffindors are deeply compassionate, and full of emotional strength, often becoming the unofficial counselors in the common room who everybody runs to for advice. They are romantic to an extreme; their minds are stuffed full of fairy tales, myths, and legends. They often spend more time daydreaming than doing their homework, to the vexation of their professors. Still, their daydreams do sometimes produce uncanny insights.

Personal History:

Jas is the middle of three children born to Nalini and Rajat Harku. The family is comprised of practicing Hindus, though they're not absolute fanatics about it. Sure, the whole magic thing is a little strange, what compared with their other beliefs, but they embrace it rather than shun it. The marriage was slightly arranged -- while her grandparents set everything up and planned the entire thing, they knew each other beforehand and had no protests of the marriage. Its been a happy and blissful marriage, producing one boy and two girls. The family's a smaller one (not including cousins and the like), but they're happy.

Being the middle child, as well as a girl, she never had the expectations that her older brother had, nor was she slightly spoiled like her sister. She's more or less floated along over the years, settling comfortably into her 'role' in the family. While they follow some traditions, both religious and cultural, they have adapted to living in the present time, and let their children grow as they please. Mostly.

Because of the lack of pressure to really do anything with her life, Jas became a bit obsessed with focusing on fashion, love, and has kept her head completely in the clouds -- it takes a lot to bring her back down, and even then, she's not completely 'there'. She likes living in her world of dreams and fantasies and is happy to keep it that way.

Through it all though, she is a Gryffindor. Her heart and her emotions are what lead and guide her, and she's not afraid to face or take on any sort of challenge. She's viciously stubborn and won't give up on things, no matter how bleak it might look.

Personality:

Jasmin. Is. Spacy. She's not stupid, not really, but she's certainly not all the way there. She has her head off in some book or cloud, wistful and dreaming of being anywhere but where she currently is. She's not really living in the present and that shows. A lot. She has a good heart, mind, and usually has good intentions, but she's horrible at remembering people, names, and other facts.

She can come off as being slightly shallow and ditzy, and maybe she is a bit, but she can't really help it. Her areas of expertise are more along the lines of fashion advice and matchmaking than classwork and studying. She's much like Cher from Clueless (Jane Austen who?), and is dedicated to using her money, people skills, and obsessive love of fashion to benefit others. Despite her knack for setting others up, she can never seem to find herself a boyfriend, something she finds to be rather unfortunate.

She's not really that bad of a student, but there are definitely people who do much better than her. She can't be bothered with most schoolwork -- sure, she'd love to please her family and do well, but classroom settings aren't really for her. They're a bit boring and uninteresting and, sure, she loves her classes, but there's something about them that makes her... not interested. Surprisingly (or not?) she ended up taking well to Divination -- it's not exactly the class that requires the most thought, or effort, and she actually enjoys it -- nothing's really set in stone and it can change at any time or moment.

Physical Description:

At the very most, Jasmin's about five feet three inches tall, putting her on the smaller side of things. She has a slimmer build, and like most of her background, skin that's naturally tan. Her dark, dark brown hair is rather wavy, usually having a slightly messy look to it, and falls to about her shoulderblades. Her facial expressions are almost always extremely animated -- any emotion that she's feeling is clearly expressed in her face. Not only is her face animated, but her green eyes reflect quite a bit of emotion as well.

Hobbies and talents:

Matchmaking! Yeah, she's actually really good at pairing other people up. It doesn't work in her favour all of the time, but plenty of other people are happy!

Shopping. And, boy, can the girl spend and spend and spend. Her family's not the richest, no, but they're probably better off than most and she uses that to her advantage whenever she can.

Imaginative. Creative. Whatever you want to call it, she has a flair for storytelling and coming up with idea for new looks and things like that.

Weaknesses:

Selfishness. Jasmin's a bit self-centered (though, not in the same manner of many of the Slytherins) and tends to put her own needs and wants first. It makes her a bit overindulgent and spendthrift at times and she doesn't really learn from it.

She has a severe lack of common sense as well. Things a normal person might try to avoid saying or doing? She'll do without thinking. Really. It can make her come off as being awfully stupid too...

Jasmin really can't bring herself to focus on anything. Her mind wanders easily and she can move on from one project to another, easily abandoning what she had been previously working on. This, of course, includes most schoolwork, which can be a very bad thing.

She's also pretty damn clumsy. The sort to trip over her own two feet; or over nothing at all, really. She'll knock things over, trip, drop things... usually because she's not paying close enough to where she's going.

Ditzy. God, can this girl be a ditz sometimes. She's not stupid, not really, but she just doesn't think a lot of the time. Not about important things, anyway.

What would your character smell if they sniffed Amortentia (the love potion)? Oh, boy. Probably... sandalwood. She's been to India a few times in her life, and she absolute adores it -- it's her heritage, her history, and where she comes from. Yeah, that's one thing in her life that she does take seriously.
Do you think your character is capable of successfully employing a Cruiciatus Curse? Why or why not? It'd go against everything she stands for and believes in, so no. And she could never hate that much anyway.
Describe how your character would react, in the form of a sample RP, if faced with a Dementor.

This was one of the last things that she ever expected to happen. Oh, it was the thing horror movies and books were made out of. Pretty girl, late at night, walking somewhere she probably shouldn't have been. So, really, Jas should have known better. But, just like in the stories, she didn't have much of a choice and it was her only way to get home.

It was a terrible idea, she quickly realized, and when she felt a cold feeling wash over her... well, she quickened her pace, cursing the shoes she was wearing. Her mind was getting a little cloudy and she could hardly focus on where she was going. Tears stung at her eyes as she fumbled around for her wand, gripping for it, but unable to grasp it. She stumbled into a wall, finally managing to get a hold of her wand, and held it out in front of herself, taking a deep breath.

... she could do this. Maybe.

Alignment: Undecided. She could easily be swayed in either direction, though.
